Raising Funds for Houston Cares Animal Rescue
To become a contributor to the the book "Rescued." Please read further for details on our application process and how to submit your application:
We have raised over $10,350 for local charities with previous book projects
For each book project we have done we receive 800+ applicants but only choose 100 dogs and their families for this experience! While we may not be able to provide individual responses to every applicant, please rest assured that we carefully read every heartfelt story, and our hearts swell with gratitude, knowing the profound love your pet has brought into your life.
Applications will undergo continuous review, and from these, we will choose a select group to feature in this year’s “Rescued” book.

Our photography session with John was a wonderful experience! It was our first ever photo session as a family because my son with ASD isn’t always open to new experiences, and so I was so happy that he enjoyed his photo session with John and talked about it the next day in a positive way! In addition to the awesome photo session, the photos themselves are next level! John captured some really special moments in time. Now I’ll always have these moments to treasure and be proud to present the photos he took of us in my home because they are absolutely exceptional quality and craftsmanship. The Details
- A tailored portrait session for one pet, with an associated $100 application fee, conducted at our Pet Photo Studio located in Katy, Texas. (For those with multiple pets, the option to include additional pets is available for an extra $50 per pet.)
- Inclusion of a double-page spread in the esteemed book titled “Rescued”
- The privilege of selecting the photograph that will grace your designated page within the Coffee Table Book.
- The opportunity to acquire printed artworks featuring your beloved pet from our exclusive art collection, as well as the chance to purchase your personal copy of “Rescued” for display on your coffee table!
- You will receive a $250 studio gift voucher to use towards purchasing wall art from your session. This gift voucher can not be used towards purchasing the finished coffee table book.
- An invite for you and your pet to our exclusive book launch party!
100% of the application fees collected will be donated to Houston Cares Animal Rescue
* The registration fee does not cover the cost of Printed Photographic Artwork, which can be acquired separately. Additionally, the published book is not part of the registration fee and will be offered for purchase during your design consultation.
What is the Process?
Step 1
Apply
Submit your pet's application by filling out the form below. Note: We are not able to personally contact every applicant. The application window is open until December 15th, 2023.
Step 2
Discovery Call
If selected someone from our John Glaser Photography team will contact you to discuss your application, answer any questions you have and talk about the details of the session.
Step 3
Book Your Custom Photo Shoot
Successful applicants will pay the $100 registration fee and select a date/time for their custom photo shoot. Additional pets from the same household can be added for $50/each.
Step 4
Design Consultation & Purchasing Appointment
Successful applicants will pay the $100 registration fee and select a date/time for their custom photo shoot. Additional pets from the same household can be added for $50/each.

Your pet does not have to be a rescue to participate
Houston Cares Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Houston Cares is a community of animal lovers working together to make a difference for animals in Houston by providing foster homes for homeless pets along with education, spay/neutering, and being an advocate for changes in our state and local legislation.
